Hi everyone, I've got another exciting issue of the monthly SourceForge.net
update. I know you can't wait! Get ready!
SF Downloads Beta: It just gets better and better.
I'm happy to announce that our army of procedural-language-enabled primates
has been doing great things with the new SF.net downloads interface. If
you haven't checked it out, look for it in your projects "Project Admin"
dropdown menu, or check out http://sf.net/downloads
This month we've added a number of features to improve performance and get
you more of the information that you need about how people are using your
software. Drum roll please:
- Make it Easy: You can now set default downloads for each OS in the beta
interface
- Operating Systems Identified: You can set defaults and see downloads from
Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, BSD, Solaris, and Android
- Help the Upgrade Impaired: Better Legacy IE support on the downloads page
(Beta and Classic)
- Scrub Your Data Clean: You can now remove specific files from reports.
SF 2.0 Beta: Your Toolbox for World Domination
Last time we talked the SF.net 2.0 beta had just come out, and now it is
making like a freight train burning rocket fuel to the two-point-oh release
station. While we are probably going to have to convert it into a mag-lev
just to handle this velocity, here's some of the high points of the trip:
- Take this Code and Fork It: Users can now fork GIT repositories into
their user-space (sf.net/u/USERNAME).
- Many Eyes, Shallow Bugs: Images viewable, and support for more file
types in SCM browser
- Watch What's Going On: Myriad improvements to the email monitoring.
Honestly, we hope you guys didn't see too much of it before.
- Hosting Support: Manage your Free Web Hosting. Mailman Lists and Mysql
Databases. That's right, for realsies.
August Project of the Month: Wireshark
http://sf.net/blog/potm-201008/
We're happy to announce that Wireshark (formerly Ethereal) is our Project
of the Month for August! It's also the best reason not to use IMAP
authentication in the clear at Starbucks. Congratulations!
Site Statistics? Top 25 Projects? Where did they Go?
Come on, what are you, lazy? Go to http://sf.net/top if you're really
interested in who the heavy hitters are in the world of Open Source. You
might just find something you wanted to download anyway.
Love,
The SourceForge.net Product Team
