Want to receive this in text? Click here.

Why hello there! We know you're busy, so let's get right to it! This month, we restored (and improved) the project activity stats, which include metrics like number of forum posts, tracker activity, and the like. We also are happy to announce a new award: the Community Member of the Month award! Congrats go out to Daniel (nanotube) Folkinshteyn for being our first recipient. More on Daniel below. GCompris is our Project of the Month, so congrats go to them as well. Also, it's that time again for the Git folks to get your feedback. One final note, this will be my last newsletter, as I'm leaving SourceForge on October 9 to pursue other opportunities. This also means that we're looking to hire a Community Growth Hacker. Could this be you? Read more below!

Coming up, we'll be at:

Hope to see you there! Do you have an event for our Calendar of Open Source Events? Let me know!

Cheers!

Project Activity Stats Restored and Improved

We are happy to share that we've improved the UI, added custom date reporting, and generally improved stat aggregation under the hood for project activity metrics. If you want to read more about what we've been up to, check out the brief blog post.

New! Community Member of the Month

We have so many great members of the SourceForge community, we thought it was high time we gave them the recognition they deserve. That's why we've started this award- to say thanks. Our first recipient is Daniel Folkinshteyn (nanotube) who has done many great things here, and is always ready to help fellow users. Besides our gratitude, Daniel will also get a $25 ThinkGeek Gift Card. To read more about Daniel and this award, go to our blog.

GCompris is our POTM

Continuing on our 2011 theme of recognizing open source projects that give back to society, we are happy to extend the September Project of the Month Award to GCompris. It is an educational suite of games for kids of all ages, and covers everything from math and science to art and literature. They make learning fun! Great job, guys. Read more about GCompris.

Git User's Survey

The Git folks have published their 2011 survey, and they'd love your feedback. It helps their community understand your needs, what you like and don't like about Git, and help them improve it overall. The survey runs until October 3. The results will be published at http://git.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/GitSurvey2011.

We Need a Community Growth Hacker!

This is a key role for SourceForge.net right now. We have many great services (Support of Git/hg IRC logging, integrated tickets/forums/wiki/scm, etc) that not everybody knows about. And we need somebody to help us to listen to our users and iunderstand their needs, and then get the word our about how our services can help. Ultimately, we are looking for someone who is passionate about open source and can help us grow our active user base, and create more of a "community" atmosphere around SourceForge.net. As Community Growth Hacker you will work with the rest of the SourceForge team to make sure we are building the products that will drive community growth, and to help the team articulate the value of each tool/service and each new release. For more info, see our full job posting.

That's all for this month.

Love,
Elizabeth and the SourceForge Team
